How to Practice
The 4-ball fountain is a fundamental juggling pattern where each hand juggles two balls independently.
Unlike the 3-ball cascade, the balls do not cross between hands and stay on the same side.
It is represented by the siteswap "4".
【How the Pattern Works】
- Each hand controls two balls
- Each hand throws alternately in a near-vertical path
- Balls are caught by the same hand that threw them
Both hands perform this motion simultaneously.
【Practice Steps】
1. Master 2 balls in one hand (each side)
- Practice controlling two balls with one hand
- Keep height and rhythm consistent
2. Use both hands together
- Start with synchronized throws
- Keep both hands moving evenly
3. Shift to alternating rhythm
- Slightly offset the timing between hands
- Develop a natural flow
【Common Mistakes and Tips】
- Balls drift forward/backward → Throw more vertically
- Uneven rhythm → Synchronize both hands
- One hand fails → Re-practice 2 in one hand
【Tips for Improvement】
- Fully master 2 in one hand first
- Keep throws lower for better control
- Build consistency with short runs
- Record yourself to check form
【Practice Time Guidelines】
- Understand within 1–2 weeks
- Achieve first success in 2–4 weeks
- Build stability within 1–2 months
